PROJECT

MAUI NUI VENISON

Maui Nui Venison founders, Kuulani and Jake Muise, came to us to help them tell the complicated project of axis deer management and their goal of creating a whole-animal approach to utilizing invasive species as a food resource. This was a story that intertwined history, ecosystems and communities and needed to be told in a way that lent respect and understanding for the role of all parts. In order to fully understand its complexities, we spent a few weeks in Hawaii immersing ourselves in the environmental, social, and cultural backstory of Maui Nui Venison. We are grateful for Jake and Kuulani’s trust in allowing us to play a small part in the sharing of this beautiful, complicated, and ever-evolving effort.

"Seacat Creative is made up of truly exceptional storytellers and professionals. In a short period of time, they were able to gather enough insight to understand the nuance, tone and approach necessary to convey our mission to both customers and community members. The short film they created for us continues to grow in value everyday."
